Wondering what the best beaches in the Bahamas are?

Here are some of my favorites! Back when I was living in Florida, the Bahamas became a pretty frequent destination for me.

Flying from the United States to this paradise country is very easy, not to mention it has some of the best the entire Caribbean has to offer.

If you’re headed to the Bahamas, chances are you’re wondering what the best beaches are. While it would be impossible to narrow them all down, here’s a list of my favorites!

1. Pink Sands Beach (Eleuthera)

This beach on Harbour Island is perfect for sunbathing, long walks, and swimming in warm crystal-clear waters. 

However, what I love the most about Pink Sands Beach is the soft pink sand that stretches for about 3 miles!

Needless to say, it’s absolutely beautiful, unusual, and highly Instagrammable.

2. Love Beach (Nassau)

A favorite with locals and my go-to for a less touristy experience, Love Beach boasts splendid turquoise waters and white sandy shores. 

Hip beach bars will keep you happy while you relax while catching sight of great ocean vistas and low-hanging airplanes flying overhead.

3. Cable Beach (Nassau)

Among the most popular beaches in The Bahamas Nassau area, Cable Beach is a gorgeous sandy beach with serene, crystalline blue waters and fantastic views. 

This is a beautiful place to practice water sports, sip on a cocktail, and see and be seen. 

It does get crowded, as happens with all popular beach spots, but Cable beach is quite expansive, so you won’t have trouble finding a quiet spot.

4. Tropic Of Cancer Beach (Exuma)

Also known as Pelican Beach, Tropic of Cancer Beach is one of the Bahamas’ best-kept secrets. 

White sand and crystalline blue-green waters make up the longest and prettiest stretch of beach on Little Exuma Island.

This is my favorite beach for solitude, as it hasn’t yet been prepared for mass tourism, and not a lot of people visit it!

You can get there by boat or private plane, but your best bet is to take a flight from Nassau to George Town, then drive to Tropic of Cancer Beach. 

5. Cabbage Beach

Cabbage Beach is ideal if you’re looking for a bustling, active, beautiful beach with plenty of activity going on. 

It is typically very busy with plenty of resorts, restaurants, bars, and shops. Water sports are readily on offer, with kayaks, jet skis, banana boats, and more. 

Even though there are people coming and going all day long, I found Cabbage Beach surprisingly clean.

Drive a rental car or taxi from downtown Nassau, as there is no public transportation available.

6. Junkanoo Beach (Nassau)

If you’re yearning to dip your toes in pristine blue Caribbean waters while relaxing on soft, white sand but still want to be surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shops, you’ll love Junkanoo Beach. 

Located in downtown Nassau, within walking distance from the cruise port, it offers plenty of opportunities for shopping, dining and wining.

I wouldn’t recommend it if a quiet beach is what you’re after, though.

7. Taino Beach (Grand Bahama)

Taino Beach on the island of Grand Bahama is one of the best beaches in the Bahamas for families.

It is located on the southern coast of Freeport, making it convenient for quick jaunts to and fro with the whole family.

Plus, there is a kiddie park on-site, clean restrooms, and other amenities.

Take a ferry from Fort Lauderdale to Port Lucaya Marketplace, where a cab can take you there in no time.

Another option is to fly to Grand Bahama International Airport, then ride a cab.

8. Paradise Beach (Nassau)

Situated on Paradise Island, a short ferry ride from Nassau, Paradise Beach is yet another of the Bahamas’ white sand beaches with perfect turquoise waters. 

Upon arrival, you can choose between the tourist zone on the left, resorts, restaurants, and bars, or the less urbanized area to the right.

Fly from Miami or Fort Lauderdale to Nassau, then take the ferry to the Paradise Island port, which will leave you within walking distance from the beach.

9. French Leave Beach (Eleuthera)

One of the prettiest beaches in the Bahamas, French Leave Beach (former Club Med) sits on the Atlantic side of Eleuthera. 

The water is incredible, and the sand has a fantastic pink tint which is actually deeper than what you find in Pink Sands Beach. 

This is a nice spot for relaxing away from the crowds, as there are usually not many people at any given point.

The one-mile stretch of rose-colored sand is great for jogging, beach combing, swimming, and snorkeling. Drinks and snacks are available.

10. Arawak Beach (Paradise Island)

Set on Paradise Island near downtown Nassau, Arawak Beach is relatively secluded, which makes it my favorite for escaping the bigger crowds of other Nassau strips of soft sand encompassing postcard-worthy turquoise waters.

11. Surfer’s Beach (Eleuthera)

As the name suggests, Surfer’s Beach in Eleuthera is a dream for those looking to ride incredible waves. 

This off-the-beaten-path slice of paradise is home to some of the best waves around the Bahamas.

You’ll come across self-designated guardians who’ll be more than happy to give you lessons and show you around. 

Snacks, drinks, and equipment rental are available.

12. Dean’s Blue Hole Beach (Long Island)

Dean’s Blue Hole is the world’s second-deepest blue hole with a depth of 663 feet. 

Surrounded by a natural limestone rock amphitheater on three sides and a shallow lagoon and Dean’s Blue Hole Beach on another, it is a truly incredible sight.

Expert divers come from around the world to experience the depths of this stunning sinkhole.

13. Fortune Beach (Grand Bahama)

A mere five miles from Port Lucaya Marketplace, Fortune Beach is one of the best vacation spots in the Bahamas for adventurers and island hoppers, as well as those traveling with the kids. 

The water is calm and shallow, the food is great, and it is conveniently located, making it a good choice for families.

Word has it the place got its name from a shipwreck that was full of treasures.

14. Gordon’s Beach (Long Island)

Lying placidly on the southern end of Long Island, Gordon’s Beach is yet another breathtaking site in Long Island and one of the best vacation spots in the Bahamas for relaxation. 

Swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and picnicking under pine trees are the top activities here.

15. Gaulding Cay Beach (Eleuthera)

Gaulding Cay Beach is located three miles north of Gregory Town. 

This long stretch of white powdery sand beach is a favorite of mine for a picnic lunch under the pine trees that surround the coast. 

As a tip, I recommend visiting at low tide, when you can actually swim or even walk to Gaulding Cay, a small islet housing casuarina trees.

16. Long Bay Beach (San Salvador)

Besides being a wondrous nine-mile stretch of white sand and perfect blue water, this beach in San Salvador island offers a great opportunity for history buffs and explorers. 

It sits across the Landfall Park, where the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the island is remembered through the Columbus Monument, the Olympic Monument, the Quincentennial Monument, and the Neo Santa Maria Monument. 

Long Bay Beach offers the chance to get a dose of history in the middle of a relaxing beach getaway. Two resorts and a few dining options provide fine lodging and entertainment.

17. Pig Beach (Exuma)

Best known as “Pig Island”, Exuma is home to what is a world-renowned Bahamas famous beach. 

You might have seen seemingly surreal photos of pigs swimming in the sea, but they exist and they live on this unique Exuma Island!

Best of all, you can swim with them, as they are super friendly and used to visitors.

Needless to say, although all of the Bahamas’ beaches and islands are photo-ops, you’ll want to have your camera on hand to capture this unforgettable experience.

18. Rose Island Beach (Exuma)

Considered by many to be the nicest beach in the Bahamas, Rose Island Beach can be reached by boat or ferry from the Nassau Port. 

You’ll find great snorkeling, a hip beach bar, and plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas all over. Best of all, you’ll be close to the world-famous “Pig Beach” in case you fancy swimming with wild pigs.

19. Bitter Guana Cay (Exuma)

This beach is very unique because it houses plenty of iguanas. They’re pretty used to people and aren’t very shy!

20. Jaws Beach (New Providence)

Jaws Beach is hands down one of the most stunning beaches in the Bahamas Nassau area and my favorite for a beach day filled with outdoor adventures.

This gorgeous stretch of white sand and turquoise waters is fantastic for a relaxing day for people of all ages, as the calm, shallow waters go out into the sea for a pretty good distance. 

However, as part of the protected Clifton Heritage National Park, Jaws Beach is also a dream for hikers, divers, movie fans, and history buffs. 

A tour of the park will allow you to take a close look at real slave homes and the sunken shipwrecks that were used in the famous shark movie, Jaws.

Be aware that it is a little off the beaten path and a protected area, so you’ll have to take your own snacks and refreshments as there are no restaurants and bars on site.

21. Coco Plum Beach (Exuma)

Coco Plum Beach is among the most beautiful Bahamas beaches, especially if you’re on the lookout for the best beaches in the Bahamas for families. 

Calm, shallow waters will allow you to walk pretty far into the Caribbean.

Collecting sand dollars, kite surfing, windsurfing, and snorkeling are favorite activities, besides wallowing in ankle-deep water and simply relaxing at the beach. 

This is where you’ll find the famous, super Instagrammable over-water swings. It’s actually a resort, and staying here is definitely worth the cost!

22. Stocking Island Beaches (Exuma)

The Stocking Islands have the wonderful beauty of the best beaches in the Bahamas islands, with the added benefit of allowing you to see stingrays up close and even feed them! 

You’ll discover that the stingrays here are quite friendly, allowing for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Beach volleyball is a good option when you’re ready to pry yourself from the water.

23. Highbourne Cay Beach (New Providence)

Highbourne Cay is a privately owned island that features some of the most amazing private beaches in the Bahamas.

Located 35 miles southwest of New Providence Island, Highbourne Cay Beach is acceded by boat from New Providence Island.

High-end lodging and a great marina provide a luxurious experience.

24. Guana Cay Beach (Abaco)

If you are aiming for a singular mix of miles of white sand, turquoise water, fun, and tranquility, Guana Cay Beach is just right for you. 

It is great for running, swimming, snorkeling, collecting shells, and bar-hopping too, but without the huge crowds, you might find at other popular beaches. 

It is also one of the best beaches in the Bahamas for couples who want to have fun sans the big crowds.

25. Winding Bay (Abaco)

Winding Bay is a private island featuring some of the prettiest beaches in the Bahamas with the added bonus of being home to its famous 18-hole championship golf course and a good spot to sight green turtles.

Even though it is the best place to snorkel in the Bahamas if you are aiming to see green turtles, you might also spot some around the seagrass not too far from shore.

26. Treasure Cay Beach (Abaco)

A spectacular spot as far as the Bahamas’ white sand beaches go, Treasure Cay Beach is one of my favorite discoveries.

27. Tahiti Beach (Abaco)

Tahiti beach’s most famous feature is a floating restaurant and bar that sits on the water.

If you dream of enjoying fresh seafood and tropical cocktails while floating on picture-perfect azure waters, this is the place to go. 

As an added bonus, you might spot a few starfish and sand dollars from here.

28. Mermaid Beach (Abaco)

Mermaid Beach is not only the best place to snorkel in the Bahamas, but it is also a diver´s dream come true. 

Whether you’re an experienced snorkeler or diver or you’re aiming to try them out for the first time, Mermaid Beach will deliver. 

A fantastic reef located in a shallow protected area allows you to wallow amid thousands of colorful fish and other marine creatures such as stingrays and lobsters.

29. Kamalame Cay Beach (Andros)

Kalamame Cay Beach is located in Kalamame Cay, a 97-acre private island where celebrities love to escape from the world for a few days. 

Pricey high-end bungalows and miles of deserted beach, dotted with fine dining options where you are likely to run into the rich and famous are all on the menu here.

30. Gold Rock Beach (Grand Bahama)

This Bahamas famous beach is known for having served as a filming location for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. 

As part of Lucayan National Park on Grand Bahama Island, Gold Rock Beach is also a great spot for snorkeling and diving, as well as enjoying the picture-perfect vistas of any Caribbean paradise.

31. Lighthouse Beach (Eleuthera)

Yearning for a beach spot where you can escape from the world for a few hours?

Lighthouse beach on Eleuthera Island is a fabulous off-the-beaten-path coastal paradise where you can sit back and relax while time seems to stop. 

Rugged rock formations make the perfect backdrop for this getaway. No shops or snack shacks are available, so make sure you pack everything you’ll need.

32. Cotton Bay Beach (Eleuthera)

Set on the southern coast of the island of Eleuthera, Cotton bay Beach is a fabulous spot to escape the crowds for a little while still remaining close to civilization and fun activities.

33. Ten Bay Beach (Eleuthera)

This is a gorgeous beach on the Caribbean side of Eleuthera island. Calm, shallow blue waters and shady palm trees make it a great option for visiting with the family. 

I highly recommend snorkeling by the rocks. Besides spotting thousands of fish, you might get lucky and see a few stingrays and green turtles.

34. James Point Beach (Eleuthera)

A private beach on the northwest coast of Eleuthera, James Point is a long, wide stretch of dreamy shoreline featuring an ancient shipwreck and a natural pool within a rock formation.

35. Plum Creek Beach (Eleuthera)

Calm, shallow waters that allow for wading quite a distance offshore make Plum Creek Beach one of the best beaches in The Bahamas for families.

Of course, sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and just relaxing at the beach while enjoying the perfect blue sea are the main thing to do here, but hiking in the lush background is also an option!

36. Cape Santa Maria Beach (Long Island)

Long island is famous for having the prettiest beaches in the Bahamas, and Cape Santa Maria Beach is no exception. 

In fact, it is among the most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas.

Perfect azure waters lapping on the powdery sand provide breathtaking vistas, while the food and cocktails are delicious and the tropical ambiance is just perfect.

37. Columbus Harbour Beach (Long Island)

This somewhat secluded beach is famous because Christopher Columbus stopped here on his inaugural journey to America. 

It is a beautiful stretch of shoreline with shallow waters, soft powdery sand, pristine blue waters, and perfect views.

I found this beach to be filled with honeymooners, so it is perfect if you’re looking for a romantic beach in the Bahamas.

38. East Beach (San Salvador)

This three-mile beach is beautiful and secluded, which makes it ideal for a relaxing day away from crowds.

Sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and picnics are popular things to do here.

39. Half Moon Beach (San Salvador)

Half Moon Beach is the ideal place to relax and take a breather. 

The beach is beautiful, the water is warm, and the scenery is striking.

Located on the tiny Half Moon Cay, a private island used mostly by cruise lines, it allows you to rent out a beach chair and lounge on the sand, or swim with friendly stingrays.

40. Shannas Cove Resort (Cat Island)

If you’re into deep-sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding, a trip to Shanna’s Cove is perfect for you. 

Even though it is relatively secluded, you’ll find a restaurant and bar. Shanna’s Cove is quite popular with honeymooners!

41. Fernandez Bay (Cat Island)

This hidden gem in New Bight, Cat Island might just be the most beautiful beach in the Bahamas. 

Spectacular vistas, talcum-like sand, azure waters, sand dollars, a bar, and a restaurant make it a place you can simply head to relax under the sun.

As an added bonus, you’ll find Mount Alvernia, the nation’s highest point, rising to 206 feet, making Fernandez one of the best beaches in The Bahamas for stunning scenery.

42. Shelling Beach (Berry Islands)

Shelling Beach is a dreamy stretch of sand and sea set on Great Harbour Cay, the largest of the Berry Islands. I love this beach for solitude and privacy.

43. Dannenberg Beach (Berry Islands)

Dannenberg Beach is as pretty as it is private. 

Named after Doris Dannenberg, who owned a second home there and became famous for her community work, this small slice of paradise is quite secluded and doesn’t have many amenities, so pack everything you’ll need for the day.

44. Radio Beach (Bimini)

Located in the Alice Town Area of Bimini, Radio Beach is dreamy, peaceful, and the best beach in Bimini.

Friendly locals and food kiosks make it a place that feels pretty authentic.

45. Picnic Bay Beach (Rum Cay)

Picnic Bay is popular with locals and tourists looking for a quiet picnic location and one of the best beaches in the Bahamas for families. 

You’ll find historical ruins, vivid coral reefs, and thrilling diving and surfing points on the tiny island.

The waters in Picnic Bay are calm and shallow, with great visibility for snorkeling.

46. Northwest Point Beach (Mayaguana)

Northwest Point Beach lies placidly on the remote island of Mayaguana, considered a footprint-free beach location and a fishing hotspot. 

With a population of a little more than 300 on the whole island, you can have the beach almost for yourself.

Charming rustic lodging and restaurants are available in case you want to escape the world for a few days.

47. Morton Salt’s Beach (Inagua)

Located on Inagua Island in the Bahamas, Morton Salt’s Beach is a dream come true with hammocks, gazebos, and cabanas on a gorgeous beachfront.

As a bonus, it is located close to Inagua National Park where you will find wild donkeys and the largest flamingo breeding community in the world!

48. Blister Bay (Bimini)

Yet another paradisiac beach located in The Bahamas, Blister Bay is frequented mainly by residents, which will give you the opportunity to live The Bahamas experience like a local.

49. Jolly Hall Beach (Exuma)

50. Hooper’s Bay Beach (Exuma)

This is one of my favorite beaches of peace and quiet. Hooper’s Bay is incredible because you’ll see green turtles swimming, and they are not shy at all!

51. Rainbow Bay Beach (Eleuthera)

Rainbow Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Eleuthera. 

Located between Gregory City and Governors Harbor Airport, it is home to great snorkeling and gorgeous natural scenery.

52. Twin Cove Beach (Eleuthera)

As the name suggests, beautiful Twin Coves features two beautiful beaches. Located in Central Eleuthera, they offer warm, shallow waters back-dropped by palm trees.

53. Barbary Beach (Grand Bahama)

Barbary is a secluded rugged beach near Freeport, with stunning vistas and perfect waters.

54. Sandpiper Beach (Abaco)

A peaceful, picture-perfect beach with a sandbar that will take you hundreds of yards into the ocean. Great for relaxing and walking, as well as snorkeling.

55. Xanadu Beach (Grand Bahama)

This beach is best known for its stunning natural beauty, water sports, and lounging areas, which make it quite popular.

Its amazing beauty even served as an inspiration for Olivia Newton John’s 1980 song.

59. Manjack Cay (Abaco)

A dreamy beach location, Manjack Cay features one of the best spots in the Bahamas for seeing marine life up close. 

Boasting a protected cove that houses sharks, stingrays, turtles, and thousands of fish, you’ll have them coming to you when you feed them and actually let you touch them, including the nurse sharks and stingrays.

60. Lochabar Beach (Long Island)

Also known as Blue Hole Beach because of the stunning sinkhole right at the edge of the beach, it is in and of itself among the Bahamas’ most beautiful beaches, with pink-tinted sand and shallow turquoise water.

This is my favorite by far for gorgeous scenery.

61. Shark Creek Beach (Berry Islands)

A spectacular secluded beach with crystalline blue water that is so calm and shallow you can walk out for half a mile into the sea.

62. Old Bight Beach (Cat Island)

Old Bright Beach on Cat Island is pretty secluded and great for a picnic as there are many pine trees that provide shade.

63. Sandbar Beach Bar (Eleuthera)

Set right off the coast of Cape Eleuthera at the island’s southwestern tip, the sandbar is best visited during low tide to better enjoy this natural beauty amid crystalline waters and palm trees.

65. Musha Cay Beaches (Exuma)

Musha Cay is the most pricey island in The Bahamas. 

Owned by illusionist David Copperfield, the 700-acre island in the Exuma Chain, the cost per night is around $45,000 dollars per night for 1 to 12 people, with a minimum stay of 5 nights.

It goes without saying that the beaches are dreamy and worth checking out if you have the budget for it.

66. Greenwood Beach (Cat Island)

Greenwood Beach is another beautiful beach on Cat Island where you’l find soft white sand and warm turquoise waters.

67. Emerald Bay (Great Exuma)

Located near the Great Exuma airport, Emerald Bay features Bahamian tropical beauty at its best.

68. Conception Island Beaches

Conception Island is part of the National Land and Sea Park system run by the Bahamas National Trust.
