Chueca is the best area to stay in Madrid for nightlife, and a wonderful mid-range option in Chueca is the Room Mate Oscar. 

Just two blocks from posh Gran Via shops, each bright, casual room offers a minibar, free WiFi, flat-screen TV, tea and coffee makers, and a cozy air-conditioned ambiance.

The standard rooms are plenty spacious, but if you need more space, upgraded suites boast living areas, free-standing baths, and balconies or terraces with dreamy city views.

You can also take advantage of the rooftop terrace with a cocktail bar, a seasonal pool, and 24-hour front desk service.

And their restaurant serves a delightful buffet breakfast, where gluten-free meals are also available on request.

The higher-tier rooms add Nespresso machines and living rooms, some even with balconies or fireplaces.

The hotel’s stylish restaurant/bar features a unique glass floor, revealing an erstwhile wine cellar, while a varied buffet breakfast and an array of wines and tapas await you.

Being in one of the best luxury hotels in Madrid Central, you’re just a stone’s throw from the stately Plaza Mayor when staying at Posada del León de Oro Boutique, adding to the allure of the place.

The location of this hotel is great for the Madrid experience. It is located on a historic street, with lots of restaurants, a couple of art galleries, and other shops. Even though the building is old, the rooms are modern with all comforts. The aircon in our room was probably the quietest I’ve seen in any hotel!

Lavapiés is an eclectic and multicultural neighborhood that embodies the true essence of diversity in Madrid, with its vibrant street art, global cuisine, and cultural fusion.

Its bohemian atmosphere, coupled with a thriving arts scene and a range of live music venues, makes Lavapiés an ideal choice for those seeking a unique and inclusive experience in the heart of the city.

Keep in mind that it’s not considered one of the safest neighbors to walk around alone at night. So I would avoid this area if you travel alone.

🛏 Budget: 2060 The Newton Hostel

2060 The Newton Hostel is a cool Lavapiés neighborhood spot right in the heart of Madrid.

For budget travelers, it’s a perfect fit for the pocket, but without any compromise on your comfort.

What’s more, you’re in cyclist heaven here, and they’ve got bikes to rent.

The hostel has air-conditioned rooms ranging from dorm beds to separate units with private bathrooms.

Amenities include a chill-out lounge, free WiFi, and a sunny terrace!

Plus, there’s private parking. The staff is also absolutely fantastic.

Besides getting simply walk or bike to the nearby attractions and cool spots, you can also conveniently reach the Atocha Train Station in just 15 minutes of walking.

Overall, amazing value right in the city center.

Everything! Good location, staff were great, and the place was exceptionally clean, quite literally all the time. Can’t wait to stay again.

Need something a bit more lavish in Lavapiés, but still wallet-friendly?

Check out Hotel Catalonia Atocha. It’s just steps away from Reina Sofia and Prado Museums and many other amazing spots in Central Madrid.

Its stylish interiors boast of light-hued elegance, a rooftop terrace with a hot tub, and a snack bar.

The rooms are smart and comfy, with Chromecast-ready TVs and modern comforts in each one.

Breakfast? A buffet delight featuring local cured meats, cheese, and pastries.

And let’s not forget the traditional Spanish cuisine at the onsite restaurant.

Some other amenities of the hotel include free WiFi throughout, minibars and safes in each spacious room, and private bathrooms featuring large showers.

The breakfast buffet was exceptional, probably the best I’ve ever seen. The room was also super spacious and comfortable. The rooftop terrace also has a beautiful sunset view. We really enjoyed our stay.

For the luxe-seekers, Artrip Hotel is your place.

A vintage 1900s brick townhouse turned into a chic hotel. It’s minutes away from Lavapiés metro station. The rooms here have a cozy feel with a French touch in some.

Attic rooms come with sloped beam ceilings, suites have additional sitting areas, and family rooms offer bunk beds for the kids.

They’ve got a 24-hour reception, breakfast, laundry, airport shuttle, you name it! And the art around the place is simply exquisite.

Complimentary WiFi works throughout the premises, and each room also has a flat-screen TV.

Then there are all the tapas bars, restaurants, and shops waiting just around the corner to make your stay doubly enjoyable.

The manager was very nice and helpful. The air conditioner worked very well.

All rooms come with a handy kitchenette equipped with a coffee machine and microwave.

The rooms are modern and neatly designed. The beds in them are also super soft and large.

On-site secure parking, 24-hour front desk service, and room service make your stay even smoother. And the staff is always there to lend a helping hand.

Oh, and did I mention the free WiFi? They’ve got that too. All that’s to say, your stay here will have all the luxuries despite being budget-friendly.

 A lot of space. Really huge room as for hotel. Also, built-in kitchen really surprised. I would call it a tiny aprartment rather than a hotel room.

Another great Salamanca hotel is the elegant Barceló Emperatriz, just a short stroll away from the Museo Lázaro Galdiano and the Rubén Darío metro station.

Relais & Châteaux Heritage Hotel is a 5-star belle-époque beauty next to Paseo de la Castellana, offering a blend of urban sophistication and state-of-the-art comforts.

All rooms here are contemporary and include private bathrooms with luxe toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers.

Start your day with a scrumptious buffet breakfast, followed by exquisite local and Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner at the hotel’s Haroma restaurant, led by the Michelin-starred chef Mario Sandoval.

You can also relax on the rooftop terrace, an ideal spot to unwind under the Spanish sun, or go out and explore the trendy Salamanca and all its glamorous restaurants and shops from this convenient spot.

The staff went above and beyond to not only make us comfortable but to make us feel special, like favorite guests. It was a delight to return to the hotel each evening to see smiles on their faces. This is not the experience we felt outside the hotel.

This sleek hotel is the go-to Retiro hotel for the budget-conscious.

Just a 2-minute walk from the Conde de Casal metro and a 12-minute amble from the lush Buen Retiro Park, it places you right in the heart of Madrid’s artistic offerings.

Each room is a modern retreat with free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, work desks, and classy marble bathrooms.

The top-floor suites level up with separate living areas and whirlpool tubs.

You can take advantage of the elegant on-site restaurant, the gym, and the business center.

 The location is very convenient. A bit distant from the city centre, but a lot of nice cafes nearby. The hotel is very clean, everyone is super friendly. Prices are absolutely justified.

Next up, we have the Only YOU Hotel Atocha, sitting pretty in a 19th-century building.

It’s just a stone’s throw from Madrid-Atocha Train Station. Soundproofed rooms come with a large flat-screen TV, safe, minibar, and a private bathroom stocked with complimentary toiletries.

They even throw in a bathrobe and slippers for good measure. And yes, free WiFi is a given!

The hotel hosts a café and bakery, along with various lounge areas.

The last floor is home to a breakfast room where you can enjoy your meal while taking in breathtaking city views.

Only YOU Hotel Atocha’s location is also great, with the Atocha Station practically in front of it.

The Prado Museum is also less than a kilometer away, and a 10-minute walk gets you to a hub of shops, restaurants, and bars.

 The location was perfect. It is directly opposite the station. The staff were all lovely and extremely attentive. We would not hesitate to use this hotel again next time we visit Madrid.
