5.  El Cosmico (Marfa)

While we’re on the topic of glamping, El Cosmico is definitely one of the unmissable places for it in Texas – and it’s also a unique place to stay for a variety of reasons.

The first reason is definitely the kind of experience it offers, which is lodging on a 21-acre campground in the quaint town of Marfa.

Accommodation options include apartments, vintage trailers, safari tents, teepees, and yurts. Each one of these lodgings offers a different experience, but the facilities are equally modern and comfy in them.

The site also features a hammock grove, hot tubs, an outdoor kitchen, a dining area, and a stage for entertainment events.

Marfa itself is also a pretty unique destination with lots of art galleries and other attractions, many of which are close to El Cosmico. And if you’re up for a thrilling way to explore them, the hotel has bike rentals on offer.

And lastly, the mysterious Marfa ghost lights are hands down one of the biggest draws of the region and part of why a stay here is exceptionally unique.

Many people have spotted these strange lights above the horizon, but it’s unclear what they exactly are. So staying here means a chance of getting to see the phenomenon for yourself.

Highly recommend :). Very cute & comfortable. Easy stroll into town. Well kept grounds & facilities.

In the onsite dining options, the Wildcatter Steakhouse is perfect if you’re craving a delicious steak – and it also serves barbecue and seafood.

And for drinks, the hotel’s saloon bar has a variety of wines, beers, and specialty cocktails on offer.

Oh, and I mentioned activities earlier – those include horseback riding and clay shooting at the range if you’re looking to experience some southern thrill, but also guided tours on SUVs for a more laidback taste of the area.

We liked the “rustic feel” of the place and enjoyed being in that location (away from everything). The decor of the room was great.

What are the Best Areas to Stay in Texas?

✔️ Austin

The brimming capital of the state is definitely one of the first places that come to mind whenever the best areas to stay in Texas are mentioned.

You will find some of the best highlights as well as hotels of the state in this lively city. One notable thing about it is that Austin is a vibrant hub of live music and festivals.

The city is famous all around the globe for having over 250 music venues, as well as hosting some of the biggest festivals in Texas. The food scene and nightlife of Austin are also really great.

Plus, it’s home to lots of incredible parks and lakes and offers a variety of fun outdoor activities like hiking and boating – making it just the perfect destination with something for every kind of traveler.

Austin Texas Capitol

✔️ Houston

Another renowned metropolis of Texas, Houston is a thriving city with lots on offer to make it one of the best places in the state.

The most popular thing about Houston is definitely its contributions to the advent in space and science, including housing NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Houston’s culture and food are also incredible and the city offers a variety of hotels ranging from luxury to budget.

The place ranked highest where the residents eat out, so you can bet the restaurants here have irresistible food.

The neighborhoods of Houston are also very diverse and culture-filled. There are so many unique art galleries, landmarks, and attractions to set Houston apart.

The city is featured as a pocket-friendly US destination as well. And with over 2.2 million residents and all the highlights I mentioned, it’s one of the best cosmopolitan destinations of the country.

✔️ Dallas

Dallas is the spectacular metropolitan heart of Texas and right up there with Austin when it comes to the best areas to stay in this state.

Along with some of the best hotels, the city is packed with culture and art, featuring some of the top museums and galleries in Texas.

The downtown of Dallas is a historic part of the city with landmarks dating back to the 20th century and it’s pretty popular for the Tex-Mex food offered at the restaurants here.

Its arts district is a cultural hub featuring the Dallas Museum of Art, the Meyerson Symphony Center, and the Crow Collection of Asian Art with original pieces from thousands of years ago.

And for a taste of Dallas’ modern art, you can head over to the Nasher Sculpture Center where you will find a fascinating collection of contemporary sculptures.

On top of the rich culture and art scene, there’s also a variety of clubs and bars around town that make for a vibrant nightlife.

All in all, Dallas is just the place to stay in Texas if you want to experience a delightful blend of history, art, and metropolitan vibes.

Dallas Texas

✔️ New Braunfels

Known for its scenic Comal and Guadalupe rivers and well-preserved historic architecture, New Braunfels is just the perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy a variety of attractions and a laidback vibe.

It packs years of heritage and a variety of arts. Many hotels and resorts are also part of the city and there are lots of things to do here as well.

The city has a ton of history, including the oldest dance hall and bakery of Taxes, and a number of other landmarks.

New Braunfels’ German influence is also very evident today in its 10-day Wurstfest festival dedicated to the history of sausage manufacturing here as well as in its Gruene Historic District.

One of the best water parks in Texas, the Schlitterbahn Waterpark, is also in New Braunfels. But there’s a lot more to this unique city and only visiting it for yourself will give you a taste.

✔️ San Antonio

Last, but by no means least, of the top places on my list for a stay in Texas is San Antonio. I have mentioned the state’s most popular cosmopolitan cities as well as historic cities with lots of heritage, but this place has just the perfect mix of both.

It blends deep-rooted colonial heritage and vibrant culture to make for an enchanting Texan destination with so much to explore.

The Alamo is a historic Spanish mission in the very center of the city and it’s now one of the most popular attractions of the city. Similarly, the Riverwalk of San Antonio makes for one of the most unique attractions in town.

Many more such attractions, landmarks, and highlights dot the city. What’s more, San Antonio also has a number of amusement parks and an impressive collection of art galleries lending it a mesmerizing allure.

Where is the Prettiest Place in Texas?

Texas itself. The state has tons of diverse landscapes, big cities, serene nature, and countless other spectacular things that are not only pretty but simply mesmerizing.

All that is to say that there’s no single place that is prettier than everything else in Texas, so it boils down to personal preferences and taste.

If you’re looking for suggestions on some of the most popular and gorgeous places in Texas, I recommend visiting San Antonio Riverwalk, Marfa, Fort Worth Botanic Garden, and the Big Bend National Park.

Oh, and don’t miss out on the incredible stargazing!

What City in Texas Has the Most Tourist Attractions?

Many cities in Texas, like Houston, Dallas, and Austin, have a huge variety of attractions. Each offers unique and memorable experiences.

But personally, San Antonio is my top recommendation for the most amazing things to see and do in Texas.

The city is home to the famous 18th-century Alamo and the picturesque Riverwalk as well as many amazing parks, galleries, shops, and restaurants, and offers tons of fun activities for every kind of tourist.

What is the Coolest Region in Texas?

Texas Panhandle. Though Texas experiences all four seasons of the year, it’s considered hot because of its muggy summers and sunny, mild winters.

But that’s more noticeable in the lowlands, especially along the Gulf of Mexico.

The Texas Panhandle region, which is farthest from the coast, experiences the coolest summers and colder winters with even below-freezing temperatures.
