Both Uber and Lyft are popular ride-hailing apps in North America, but not so much in Ireland. 

First of all, Lyft is not operating yet in Ireland. However, you can find Uber, especially in cities like Dublin.

Still, Uber is regulated excessively because in Ireland, by law, private drivers are not allowed to carry paying passengers. Therefore, Uber is mostly used for calling a taxi or a limo.

I personally tried Free Now and Uber and found Uber much cheaper because on Free Now you have to pay an extra commission (which goes to Free Now, not the driver) as my driver explained.

What I do is rent a car in Dublin as soon as I land and bring it back when I leave, unless I want to explore Dublin, in which case, I drop off the car earlier and use one of the Ireland taxi apps to call a taxi and get to the city from the airport and back.

This way I spare myself the hassle of driving in Dublin traffic. }
