The originally tiny town of Sayulita is now one of the most popular vacation destinations on the Pacific coast in Mexico.
It was in fact a sleepy fishing town whose destiny changed in the 70s when a group of American hippy surfers discovered it, fell in love with the spectacular ocean views, the wild vegetation, and the perfect swells, and decided to settle.
Since then, the town continued to develop and it’s now a favorite destination for many travelers, not only surfers but the beach and party lovers and yogis, explorers, and style-conscious travelers.

Downtown is Sayulita’s heart, built around the plaza and on the main beach and where all the main restaurants and bars are located. If you love to be close to the nightlife and don’t mind the late-night noise, this is for you.
In fact, Sayulita Beach is lined with luxury hotels and laid-back properties with amazing sea views that you can enjoy from your room or from the in-house restaurants while enjoying a great breakfast. Some of them are a bit further away from the noise of the town.

South End
This is the area between Sayulita Main Beach and Playa Muertos. It’s a quiet and peaceful area close to the main beaches but an easy 10-minute walk to the main restaurants and towns.
It’s somewhat hilly which makes it a great exercise to walk around, but it pays off with its dramatic views over the ocean.
North End
North of Sayulita Main Beach, the north end is mostly flat, where the turtle release camp is located. It’s a quiet area because it’s far from the city noise but still a few minutes walk to all the main restaurants and facilities.

How to move around in Sayulita
Although it’s somewhat out of topic, I wanted to give you an overview on the most important thing when you are on a vacation. Unless you want to lock yourself in your beautiful hotel, which is also an option, you may want to go out and explore.
If you are anything like me you may want to rent a car and explore around. In fact, there are so many beaches in Sayulita and nice beach towns that you may want to check out. Without a car, is almost impossible.
However, to more around town you may also rent a golf cart. I would suggest you check out the price because sometimes renting a car is cheaper and you can also use it to go out of town.
