Located just south of the Kohala Coast, Kilua-Kono is another scenic part of the Big Island on its western side.
The town is located in the Kona region of the island and boasts some of the most impressive beaches, historic landmarks, and restaurants and bars.
This side of the island is pretty dry, and you’ll see endless lava fields in some parts of the region as well.
But the beaches are way better here, although some of them might require a bit of effort to get to.

If you don’t know what to see and do during your visit, here is a sample 3-day itinerary.
Day 1

👉 Drive south and stop at Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling and to see the James Cook Monument.
