What to Expect from Cancun Weather in October
October is the last month of the rainy season (and hurricane season as well), and normally, but not always, the most active. And although it’s of the rainiest month, you can still expect sunny days.
For this reason, is considered low season because basically nobody wants to go and risk the bad weather.
However, to be honest, with the forecast always more and more reliable you can check on the weather and find a last-minute deal.
For example, October is an excellent month to join tours to Chichen Itza and other Mayan ruins because it’s definitely less hot and therefore much more enjoyable.
You can also find the best price for your hotel room and enjoyable temperatures.
This way you will enjoy sunny days on the deserted beach and small crowds. Remember also to enjoy a beautiful sunset from the Nichupte Lagoon.
I would definitely travel in October to Cancun.

Although the average temperature is pretty much the same as in September, in October you have fewer days when the temperature reaches 90ºF.
However, be reassured that the average low temperature is still a whopping 74ºF which is 23ºC which feels like 30/80 with the humidity levels.
So no worries and pack your bikinis and pareos. No winter clothes are needed for visiting Cancun except for a raincoat (just in case).

October is the second most humid month of the year in Cancun.
Although the average humidity % is pretty much the same all year round, the max % is at its highest in October and September.
Mornings are usually the most humid, and on a positive note, if you think that 74ºF/23ºC is cold, you don’t have to worry about it because the humidity will make it feel like 86ºF/30ºC.
In other words, Cancun weather in October is very hot and humid!

The humidity levels in Cancun are almost all the time high in the summer and lower in winter and it has a great impact on heat perception. If there is a temperature of 35°C (95°F) and high humidity it will feel like 40°C (104°F)

The average wind speed metric is useful when you want to fly a drone and you want lower wind speed or you want to kite surfing when you will need a higher average wind speed. Cancun offers a little bit of both to make everybody happy.
In the picture here below you can find the average wind speed for each month of the year so you can plan your activities.
I have a mini drone and for as much as they say you can fly it up to 42km/hr wind speed, it is not necessarily true.
Keep in mind though that these numbers here below are just an average and you can find low wind speed even in March or April at certain times of the day. So take this with a grain of salt.

Also here are some Cancun events that usually take place in October.
- Cancun Travel Mart – This show is organized by the Travel Agent Association and the Cancun hotel association with the purpose of gathering all operators in the Travel business to Cancun to discuss business opportunities.
However, there are days in which it’s open to the public to showcase local food, hotels, and tours available in Cancun and its surroundings. In 2023, the dates are October 11-13.
- Cancun Jazz Festival: Cancun Jazz Festival is considered one of the most exciting, especially for the location and the top names in contemporary jazz. It used to take place in the last days of October but this year it’s scheduled for mid-November.
- Día de las Brujas (Halloween) – Although Halloween is not considered a public holiday, in Cancun it’s a tradition that is celebrated because of the number of tourists that come to the destination. Therefore kids are gearing up and go for their candies and sweets as much as the adults are wearing their own costumes and head to bars and clubs to celebrate.
