The pool was cool and refreshing and very clean. Another lovely view to be enjoyed! We never used the A/C and had the windows open and ceiling fans to allow the breeze at night. The kitchen was equipped if you want to cook, but restaurants are so plentiful we preferred to eat out. We did use the refrigerator for storing breakfast foods and our tequila. Joanne was a lovely hostess and allowed our privacy but was available if we had questions. We would love to stay again when visiting Sayulita. Tips and tricks on how to make a booking on Airbnb and VRBO- best practices
As you probably know by now, I am an avid Airbnb and VRBO traveler and although sometimes I love to stay in nice hotels as well, living in a beautiful home is more suitable for the way I love to travel. I have recently switched from Airbnb to VRBO because Airbnb abruptly stopped our affiliation program after having taken advantage of the huge bloggers’ reach for their own interest. I didn’t find it really ethical and that’s why from now on I will be starting to book through VRBO and Anyplace.
I understand though if you will continue to use the Airbnb platform as I reckon that’s very practical. The below tips can be applied to any platform as they are very general ones.
After many bookings made on different platforms and home rented, there are a few tips I want to share with you. It may be obvious for some of you but not so much for those who are not familiar with these kinds of platforms. I hope it helps, but I will write a more in-depth post on the topic.
- Make sure you know what you are booking. Not all homeowners are very familiar with the interface and it can happen to find contradicting information, especially on the kind of accommodation. Example: entire home vs a room? or is the bathroom en-suite? In doubt, always contact the host before booking.
- Read the reviews from the previous guests
- Check the total price and the breakdown, because the price advertised it’s not accurate. Airbnb would add their commission and taxes on the room fare basis that is decided by the owner.
- Consider booking for 7 days or 1 month, so that you most probably get special discounts.
- Read all the details of the listing.
- Read the cancellation policy.
- In doubt, always contact the host before booking.
